There's 'Bin' a Change

When it comes to aircraft, they’re only as good as the folks who take care of them.

In this case, that’s all of us!

We wanted to help all students and renters keep our beasts as neat as can be, so we’ve added two features into most of the aircraft:

  • Labeled oil/fuel and window bins, and

  • Small trash cans

Oil/Fuel and Window bins in N49681

The oil/fuel bins contain the following, and only the following: red rags (for oil), oil containers, fuel samplers, oil funnels, and fuel quantity gauges. The window bins should have only yellow microfiber cloths and window cleaner/spray within them. Should any items be missing from any bin, please notify our front desk staff so that we may amend the situation immediately.

The location of each bin will be slightly different in each aircraft, but all should be obviously locatable. The same may be said for our second addition, the small trash cans.

Each trash can is about the size of a tissue box, is black in color, and is located towards the aft of each aircraft. These trash cans have been added to our aircraft to aid in the overall piloting experience — it’s no fun having something to throw away with no place to throw it. And pilots’ attention should be focused elsewhere while in the aircraft, not on the paper scraps, wrappers, or other debris in their hands! The trash cans will not accommodate heftier objects such as water bottles, but they are perfect for smaller objects. As with the oil/fuel and window bins, please let our front desk staff know immediately if a trash can is damaged or missing from your aircraft.

Note as well that each aircraft should be outfitted with a roll of paper towels at all times. The paper towels should be used primarily for plugging the oil funnels (so that they do not leak and sully the oil/fuel bins.) They also come in handy for wiping hands and can be used in place of red rags, should red rags become soiled beyond usable standards.

Please let us know if these solutions do more harm than help in the coming months. At SunWest, we are always striving to make the flying experience an easier and more enjoyable one for all patrons, and we cannot do that without your input. Thank you all in advance for your feedback.
