We've welcomed two new instructors to our crew this month; Brenden Smith and Ben Wada!

Brenden has been flying since he was ten years old, and he’s as in love with aviation now as he was back then. A self-proclaimed “avid aviator,” Brenden enjoys being at the airport near like-minded people and can’t wait to share his love of aviation with all those around him.

Brenden brings to SunWest a beautiful balance between by-the-books education and sheer excitement. He is very happy to live and work in San Luis Obispo as he takes advantage of the city’s stunning surroundings (when he’s not flying!)

In addition to Brenden, Ben is the most recent CFI to join our team.

Ben spent his formative years on the Big Island of Hawaii but was originally a San Luis Obispo native. He made his way back to the golden state to get his start in aviation right here at SunWest!

Ben brings to SunWest an easygoing, laid-back island attitude coupled with a deep respect for the technicalities of flight. When he’s not extending his love of aviation to others, Ben can be found swimming, hiking, or trying his best to catch a wave.

Both Brenden and Ben maintain the utmost professionalism and civility in the aircraft, while sharing with each of their students the absolute elation that aviation inspires. The SunWest family is excited to share these two gentlemen with our KSBP community.
