Tapering Tower

Prepare to be patient here at KSBP — our tower’s coverage has run thin.

It won’t last forever, though.

According to Air Traffic Manager Dylan Krassensky, the tower will be understaffed for the next three to six months. What does that mean for the general aviator? Krassensky notes two main effects:

  1. We can expect more single patroller coverage, and

  2. Less frequent line up and wait procedures.

As if the stress of being controllers wasn’t enough, our helpful tower folks will now be stretched very thin. It may behoove those of us utilizing the airspace and ground to cut them some slack, and as always (even though they will be busy) the air traffic controllers still urge us to call them whenever we have a question.
